Mario ain’t the naive rookie he was back in 1982…

This is the third cartoon I’ve made. I’m pretty happy with the way it turned out. I am hoping to turn this one into a web series.

The Racist NY Post Cartoons - Remixed!

As you probably know, the New York Post is under fire for printing this racially insensitive political cartoon:

Stupid, huh?  It doesn’t take a genius to see how this could be interpreted as racist, or at least insensitive.  There’s lots of outrage over this one, and it’s safe to say that the cartoonist, Sean Delona, probably won’t be working much for the next few months.  Maybe we can find some better captions for his cartoons:

I’m willing to give the guy the benefit of the doubt, and assume that he wasn’t trying to be racist.  After all, it is a cartoonist’s job to push buttons and take people out of their comfort zones.  The problem is that it wasn’t really that funny to begin with, and if you’re going to print a cartoon that is this emotionally loaded for people, you really need to knock it out of the park with the caption.  I wonder what the editors were thinking when they approved it?  Probably something like this:

Who reads the New York Post anymore anyway?  Weren’t print newspapers supposed to go extinct at the dawn of the information age?  This is probably just their way of crying for help to see if anyone is still listening.

Anyway, he probably would have been smarter if he didn’t use it to go after Obama’s stimulus bill.  He should have gone after someone less popular than Obama.  For example:

Of course, he could have gone the safe and obvious route, and done a banana joke.
